F.A.Q.

Banners

Q: How do I request a banner from you?
A: I am no longer taking banner requests under any circumstances.

Q: How long does it take you to make a banner?
A: It depends how long my waiting list is. Always check the widget on the right hand side of my blog entitled "Waiting List" to see how long the current wait is. I try to never make you wait more than 2 weeks.

You're all lovely people but please respect that I am a full time student, I work on weekends, and I do volunteer work when I'm not at school during the week. Banner making is not a business and I don't gain any monetary benefit from this. So, being enchanted-mind is my last priority and my real life does affect the waiting times.

Q: Do you only make fanfiction banners for Twilight?
A: No. I used to make banners for Harry Potter, Titanic (1996 film), Tristan + Isolde, Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls, Lois and Clark, and traditionally animated Disney films. Please note that I am no longer taking banner requests.

Q: What do you use to make your banners?
A: Photoshop CS5.1 and, sometimes, a Wacom Inuos4.

Q: Can I request more than one banner from you?
A: I am no longer taking banner requests.

Q: How do I credit you when I post the banner?
A: I only ask that you specify somewhere that the banner was made by "enchanted-mind", preferably below the banner or next to the banner link. Some very lovely authors have linked to my blog as well, but I don't expect that from you.

Q: Where's the best place to get up-to-date info about you and what's happening?
A: This blog right here is the place to check for any changes.

Q: Why won't you make a banner for a story that already has one?
A: In the banner making world, there is a sort of code that we artists abide by and respect. As part of this code, we don't diss each others' work. By asking me to make a banner in place of one you've already had made is like saying that you don't appreciate the effort that went into the first banner. If you're not happy with the banner, go back to your bannermaker and let them know. They would be happier that you tell them so, and let them make the alterations, than if they see you publicly reject their work.

I've been caught in this situation myself a few times, and it is not a nice feeling to see your work rejected publicly like that. So I choose not to inflict that on others.

Q: Are there any exceptions to the "only one banner per story" rule you have going (in the above question)?
A: There are a few exceptions to my rule:
Exception #1: If you own a banner for your story that was given to you by an awards site (whereby you didn't request it, and you feel it doesn't quite hit the mark) then I will accept your request for a banner by me.

Exception #2: If the original banner you have was gifted to you by a fan and is deemed to be more "fan art" than "banner".
Exception #3: If you already own a banner by another artist, and you want another one by me, then if you can obtain permission from the original artist for me to make one for the story, then I will do it. But you need to get all the permissions and forward the email to me; I will not chase that for you. If the other banner maker is okay with me encroaching on their territory, then I will consider the request.

*If you want to request a banner from me and you are in unique circumstances that don't fit any of my above exceptions, feel free to email me and explain your situation. I will tell you straight up whether or not I am comfortable in making you a new banner. You can reach me at enchanted_mind@ymail.com

Q: Is it helpful if I send you extra information about character back stories or a character analysis?
A: No. Keep it short and simple and put it in the request a banner form. Please don't send extra documents with 1000+ words about Edward being sad because of his adoption. Say he was adopted, he's depressed because of it, and leave it at that. You need to provide me with a summary of your story so I can sum it up further in a single graphic.

Q: Do you have a blacklist?
A: Yes, I most certainly do. My blacklist consists of a list of authors who I will never work with again based on a previous experience with them. Below are ways you will find yourself on this list:
- Requested a banner from me but never posted it with the story, or the link to it on a profile, etc.
- Credit for the banner was given to someone else.
- Posted a banner without credit anywhere (on a blog, FF.net profile, Twilighted story summary, etc.).
- I emailed a final banner, and you never responded.
- Requested a banner from another artist after I had already made one for that particular story.

If you're guilty of one or more of the above offenses in relation to me, then you are on my blacklist and I'm sure that it doesn't surprise you.

Graphics

Q: Can you make me a trailer for my fanfic?
A: No. I do not take video requests under any circumstances.

Q: Can you make me a blog/twitter/tumblr/website layout?
A: No. I will only make a header, the rest is up to you.

Q: Do you make blinkies and animated banners?
A: I know how to, but I don't. They're too time consuming. So, no.

Q: What programs did you use to make your videos?
A: I used a combination of Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.
